Sha Wa An

Sha Wa An belongs to Puyuma aboriginal people born in 1943. He tried carving without teacher from 1981. He began to create in 1987 and his works, after soon, got the first prize of the culture center of the governmental exhibitions in 1992. Since than, many governmental exhibitions invited his works and usually awarded outstanding honor. Sha Wa An thinks that both courage and wisdom are the living rule of the Puyuma aboriginal people. So the chief in tribe usually is the subject of his creations. The style of his carving is both exquisite and realistic. At present, he works on a farm and he spends lots of the free time to sculpture wooden and stoned pieces. He also designs tribal totem on the embroidery. He looks for the monument of the Puyuma aboriginal people and arranges the history of the Puyuma aboriginal migration. He also invited as a teacher of the sculpture in junior high school.
