Transformations

We invited an outstanding aboriginal artist Amai Xilan to show his works on our web site. "Transformations" is our subject of this exhibition. Transformation, whether the tangible or the intangible aspects means an important turning point for Amai. In Amai's works, we see his transformations: changed from realistic to abstract style, from light and dark colors to original and bright colors, and his content changed from landscapes and portraits to interior self-image and tribe concerns. "As a member of the aborigines, I should return to our culture and seek our living philosophy. This is an important point for me to change the creative idea of my painting." Amai says, "I express the honesty and sincereity of Atayal people and social affinities through used simple designs of tradional tribe weaving and bright colors and geometric figures"

There are four subtitles: The love of the Atayal, The portrait of the Atayal, The image of the Atayal and The spirit of the Atayal, ranging from love between men and women, the contrast between the soft female and strong male Atayal people, the feelings of daily life to important spirits of sharing and devotion. There are total 20 pieces of Amais' on our web site. We hope we try to comprehend Amai's transformations by these works.
